Family friendly butcher

Steak, pork, wors, chops…no meal is complete without a good cut of something meaty, especially here in South Africa. Whether you are into fine dining or a good old-fashioned braai, you rely heavily on your neighbourhood butcher to advise you in selecting the correct cut, amount and type of meat for your meal. The team at Lifestyle Superspar’s butchery is serious about service.

The effervescent JJ Neuhoff heads up the butchery, together with an experienced team. JJ, who was born in Richards Bay, has been living in Ballito for five months and now cannot imagine his life anywhere else. “I absolutely love the vibe here, and the warmth of the people I meet every day in Superspar.” He got his first taste of meat while
working in a butchery during his school holidays. “I spent most of my spare time working at OK Bazaar, doing whatever I could to help in the butchery.” A stint in the military preceded JJ’s move to recognised brand, Renown, where he got the chance to get his hands dirty. “Nothing about the meat industry was strange to me because I had
already done most of the work before. It was an easy adjustment.”

Armed with 22 years’ experience in retail, JJ comes to Lifestyle Superspar with a wealth of knowledge and passion. “What makes my team and I unique, and our butchery top class, is that we give our customers only the best. We are committed to our customers and what they need. Every member of the team is passionate about what they do.” JJ vows to give each customer personal attention; his familiarity with meat cuts means customers will seldom be left
wanting. “If I don’t have the cut you are looking for then I guarantee I will know about it. And I will try my best to find it for you. Research and knowledge is a big part of customer service.”

Another unique facet JJ boasts is his love of cooking. “So, I will not only be able to advise you on great cuts of meat, I can also recommend the best and most innovative ways to prepare it. I don’t want your experience to end when you walk out of the store. My team and I want to develop personal relationships with those who choose us regularly.”
His favourite meal to prepare: a traditional “boere” spit braai, of which a thick, ‘man-cut’ steak must be a part. “Otherwise, it’s a deboned pork neck, which my wife loves!” The butchery offers pre-packaged meat according to customer specifications and JJ says they are open to suggestions. “We want to make your shopping experience pleasurable.”

The revitalisation of the butchery is part of a campaign by the Lifestyle Superspar to improve the already stellar service they provide to their customers. “We strive for freshness, quality, value for money and sourcing goods from accredited suppliers, with traceability. In our butchery it’s about being traditional, celebrating South Africa’s
finest meat.”
